About the Busy Brush

The Busy Brush Gallery and Gifts is located in the former Auburn Baptist Church, which was built on this corner in 1873. Church membership declined in the 1970's, and the building then served as home to DeKalb County's Senior Citizens Council until 1990. In that year, well-known local artist Pat Delagrange and her husband Merv purchased the building.

With Pat's artistic flair and Merv's building expertise, the old church building took on a whole new look and purpose. Evidence of Pat's creativity adorn the walls of both her shop and her studio/classroom. The ornate carved pulpit and altar remain, and one can imagine the faint strains of "Amazing Grace" still floating in the air. Although the building no longer functions as a church, Pat's desire is that it will continue to be used to honor God and share His love.
